The Oak Ridge Swim Team is seeking assistant coaches to help the head coach with daily practices and swim meets for the 2024 season.
Job Description
We are looking for assistant coaches with a passion for swimming and with great team spirit. They must be excellent leaders, good role models, and have good attitudes. They will be REQUIRED to help the head coach with practices, meets, and social events.
Assistant Coach Expectations

Must attend all practices (including pre-season if possible), meets, City Meet, awards dinner and meetings

Maintain a positive and supportive attitude toward coaching staff, swimmers, parents, Swim Team Committee members, and ORSC board members

Report to work on time (15 minutes BEFORE the start of practice, 3:00pm for home meets and 3:30pm for away meets) and be actively involved during each practice and every meet

Provide a positive, encouraging, and challenging atmosphere in which all swimmers, regardless of ability, may improve their skills.

Critically analyze swimmers’ strokes, make constructive suggestions, and create drills to facilitate improvements

Assist Head Coach with creating and implementing practice sets that are age and skill appropriate for each swimmer

Assist Head Coach with meet entries

Maintain a high standard of speech, dress, and behavior

Plan to be in the water during all practices
2024 Volunteer Swim Coaches
The Oak Ridge Swim Team is looking for outgoing, self-motivated swimmers to volunteer this coming season with our swim team. It is an excellent opportunity to showcase your skills and gain leadership experience. We are now accepting applications for a limited number of volunteer positions. Application window will close on February 28th.
Volunteer Coach Duties

Assist with Pre-Season Swim, dates are April 7, 14, 21, 28 and May 5 at the Kernersville YMCA

Set up and take down of Home Swim Meets (some heavy lifting may be required)

You are required to arrive early to meets (3:15pm arrival) and stay until the pool is cleaned up after a meet. (Please consider this if you do not drive yourself.)

Assist with younger swimmers in the water during practice and meets

Assist/plan with social events and fundraisers

Cheer on all swimmers during meets

Required to attend swim practices - arrive 15 minutes early to assist with set up (any absences must be approved by Head Coach prior to absence)

Assist Swim Team Chair as needs arise
Note: Being a past volunteer junior swim coach does not guarantee a position for this coming season. All volunteer junior coaches must be a current member, in good standing, of the ORSC and have swam previously for the ORSC Swim Team.
