Swim Team
We are proud to offer our swim team, the ORCAS.

Â
Who is eligible?
Swim Team is open to anyone who is a member of the ORSC and is 18 or under, as of June 1 of the current year. Children must be able to swim the length of the lap pool unaided, by the Black and White Meet (Mock Meet) on June 4th. Coaches help get them there! Swimmers practice and compete by age group based on their age (6 + under, 7/8, 9/10, etc.). Each family must provide an adult volunteer for at least three dual meets in order for their swimmer to participate on the team. All team members are eligible to swim on one of the CSA Championship meet days July 7th, 8th or 9th.
Practices and team activities begin in the afternoons on May 16th, but be sure to check the calendar for details. After the end of the school year, both morning and afternoon practices are offered. Practices are typically offered each weekday. We typically schedule 2 clinics for specialized techniques where we bring in coaches from year-round swim sites to share their expertise.
There will be five scheduled dual meets this year and the swim team season will end at the Championship Meet at Lindley Pool until the Greensboro Aquatics Center is finalized. Fun events are planned throughout the season including our Pasta Kick-Off Dinner, Ice Cream Social, Swim for Cancer, Age-Appropriate Movie Nights and the Post-Season Team Banquet.

If you are interested in registering for the Oak Ridge Swim Team, please download the Parent Information Form for an overview of team participation including swimsuit information. Our Parent Handbook is a great reference for newcomers as well as previous swim team parents. Swimming is a great sport for overall fitness and our team is a great way for your child to meet new friends and stay active during our hot summer months!
Our swim teams governing body is the "Community Swim Association" of Greensboro. They are a non-profit group based in the Greensboro Metropolitan area. We swim against other local clubs in the area and compete at Greensboro's "City Meet" every year.
Our team is called the "ORCAS", our mascot is the Orca or killer whale (Orcinus orca).
